Moving On 03:32
Everybody’s moving on Their lights burned bright but now their gone Their leaves are all changing colours in the fall They’re highway cars Racing past each other to get where we need to be Everybody blows away Like empty plastic wrapping paper Off to find some place where they can stay We’re all just satellites Drifting over this place we call home, totally alone We grow like weeds Spread our full leaves And turn into something brand new Everybody blows away On this west wind coming from the east Never at peace Always moving on Running across countries that we can’t call home for long We grow like weeds Spread our full leaves And turn into something brand new Change is like the wind It’ll happen right before our eyes Straight down from the skies Unnoticed and uncelebrated All we hear is fear Our hearts go cold as snow We need to change And let that wind blow Everybody’s moving on
2.
Would you stay with me at the end of the world When our house falls in and our bones feel old Would you help me extinguish the endless fires Would you give up hope when the flames grow higher Would you stay with me till death do us part Would you stay with me at the end of the world Will you stay with me in 2012 When the calendar ends along with ourselves Will you hold my hand and watch the nuclear show Will you welcome it or do you fear the unknown Would you stay with me till death do us part Would you stay with me at the end of the world Will you be with me with the fear in your heart Would you stay with me at the end of the world Would you survive when grocery stores and shopping malls meet their demise Will you hunt for food Live off the land Would you be able to kill with your bare hands Would you stay with me Would you stay with me at the end of the world Will you be with me with the fear in your heart Would you stay with me at the end of the world

Take the Pen 06:00
What genre would you put yourself in Are you romantic or a feminist And where did you say you were from Was it here or there, does it really matter In this heartless world You can’t claim to know If flowers will come to bloom Or die off in the snow I’ve heard some things but I’m just not sure I see in your eyes, see through your disguise Take it off one day for me Let me inside, let me inside In this divided world You’ll never know for sure If she’s in love with you Or just some other girl So we write about it… Darling why’d you come here tonight Are you here for me, did you know you’d be Whoever thought the authors were wrong For your happy ending you might not have to wait so long In this crazy world One thing to understand Things don’t have to be The way they’re written Here is your best chance For you to take the pen Your life’s a storybook Sure to have a happy ending

Where is my pen when I need it to feel something that will soon turn into sand I can type but it just doesn’t seem right These machines have no feelings though someday they might I’m not sure I can live in a world I connect to less and less I’m obsessed with the modern while living in the past Why do I write? These words have no meaning though someday they might So I’m stuck in yesterday without anything new to say What is the right path to follow so maybe someday I might Get off this island, build a raft and battle the tide I’m not sure I can stay in a world that deteriorates so fast I’m obsessed with the modern while living in the past I’m not sure I can live in a world I connect to less and less I’m obsessed with the modern while living in the past

Up Dufferin 04:47
Love those trips to the city, we go there to bloom Grow up straight to the sky, feel like its coming soon We’ll speed up the highways, the tires get hot And the impending traffic will make us feel lost We’ll be three of the faces, three million strong But we’ll have our voices and we’ll have our songs Should they be performed and fall on deaf ears Well I say we get the hell up out of here The city closes its jaws So go up dufferin and don’t ever stop We’ll sing through the streets till our voices get sore We’re drowned out by country from a city boy’s heart Preferring the make-up, they leave real behind I feel like I’m not what they had in mind The lake draws you closer intending to trap So go up dufferin and don’t ever stop I thought I’d stand out in the street, in the diversity But thousands of voices sing louder than me I wish that my id kept my ego at bay Its the root of such anxiety The city closes its jaws So go up dufferin and don’t ever stop The lake draws you closer intending to trap So go up dufferin and don’t ever stop Don’t ever stop (Don’t ever stop)
6.
I’m searching for numbness, for a way out For a scrooge-like compassion to everyone around I’ll live in a cabin deep in the woods Where the trees can protect me from feeling no good I want the words to stay in Compliments to stay out And the work that I do will be work that I choose No smiling faces wanting reciprocity No feeling, no expectations, just me I’m searching for what is already there Something deep inside that I’ve been unaware of I’ll live amongst crowds but see nothing but clouds And the feeling I’m feeling will condense and rain down I want the words to stay in Where they can’t hurt no one And the work that I do will only feel like fun No smiling faces needing reciprocity No feeling, no expectations, just me No feeling, no expectation, just me Just me, Just me

My story was written before I knew how to read It was carved in the trunks of the most ancient of trees It was set in the stones at the heads of old graves And encoded in cells, strands of DNA I've travelled the world, sailed over the seas I've seen lions on beaches in Mozambique I remember I remember in the pages of books My synapses connect to each one like a hook Reel me in with every mysterious word Cause that’s how it is, they’ll save the best for the end They’ll gut you and skin you and then They’ll spit you back out again We’re in for the long haul, its either me or the old man My future was painted in caves by my ancestors It was trapped under pressure and turned into oil The sea sings my song in the crash of her waves My life was written to end up that way And I'll stay right here till the day that I die I'll leave my stories for someone to find They'll remember, they'll remember in the pages of books How they came to be on the ground where I once stood Reel me in with every mysterious word Cause that’s how it is, they’ll save the best for the end They’ll gut you and skin you and then They’ll spit you back out again We’re in for the long haul, its either me or the old man And it won’t be him And it won’t be him And it won’t be him And I don’t want to die, not without a fight I’ll tear out the pages, tell the story of my life And I will go where no one has ever gone before Cause I’m the only one controlling my future

Dove Love 04:50
Put one on top of the other And hope that they don’t see That girl with the blue stripe It was meant to be They call us pigeon shit But we know our love’s legitimate We’ll gather sticks for the nest and I'll never leave Fly over their heads So they can’t see That girl with the blue eyes Looking at me They try to drive us out Out of the town we’ve grown to love But we’ll gather sticks for the nest and I’ll never leave This marriage binding as dove love Longer than Yonge street And my heart light as a feather And big as the city today

about

Alex Ricci & The Still Nothing combine the lyrical prowess of composer Alex Ricci with an open-minded instrumental approach of a band coming into their own. Their songs explore the process of documenting your own inimitable experience, and finding yourself unknowingly caught between a lonely past and an uncomfortable future. These stories are set to a nostalgic and dynamic musical arrangement that highlights the band’s unique sound.

Alex Ricci has worked as a musician for the past four years while attending University of Guelph, and graduated to the real world with a collection of songs and experiences burning to be shared. He assembled his band and recorded at the Lion’s Den, his home studio, over the long cold winter of 2013. The result are a set of warm songs that melt through the typically sterile mold of pop music and whisper into listeners’ ears with honesty and integrity. Entitled “Imprints”, the band’s debut album is a lyrical journey and a discovery of new sounds through instrumental experimentation and self-produced refinement.
